Matt Snowling joined FBR’s financial institutions research group in January 1999 as a research analyst covering government-sponsored enterprises, super-regional banks, and money-center banks. In 2003, Mr. Snowling was chosen to spearhead FBR’s coverage of investment services companies, which include asset managers and online brokers. Since then, he has received the No. 1 ranking in earnings accuracy, was recognized as one of the top three stock pickers for the capital markets industry, and was rated as one of the top 10 earnings estimators overall in the Forbes.com/StarMine’s 2004 and 2005 Best Analyst Awards.
In addition to his coverage of the investment services industry, Mr. Snowling follows the student loan industry. Through his work over the past six years on the industry, Mr. Snowling is considered one of the leading analysts covering lenders operating in the federal student loan program, as well as the emerging private loan industry.
Prior to joining FBR, Mr. Snowling worked at USF&G Insurance, specializing in tax issues for the company’s investment properties. Prior to that, he worked for three years as a senior accountant for the National Retail Federation.
Mr. Snowling received his M.B.A. and his B.S. in accounting from the University of Maryland. Mr. Snowling is a certified public accountant (CPA) and has received the CFA designation. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the CFA Institute. |
