Masaaki Asakura, executive vice president and Chief Operating Officer for 7-Eleven, Inc., is responsible for leading the Store Operations, Merchandising, Franchising and Marketing organizations. Asakura also serves on the company's board of directors.
He joined Seven-Eleven Japan in 1976 and has served in a variety of operations positions, including field counselor and district manager. For several years, he worked in the company's merchandising department where he was responsible for numerous products, including Slurpee® semi-frozen carbonated beverage. In 1987, he was named general manager responsible for drinks, dairy, frozen grocery, ice cream and fast foods.
In 1989, Asakura was assigned to Seven-Eleven Hawaii as general manager and executive vice president. Most recently, he was general manager of Seven-Eleven Japan's planning department and responsible for overseas affiliates.
Born in Tokyo, Japan, Asakura earned a bachelor of science degree from Rikkyo University in Tokyo. |
