Marya practices in the areas of estate planning; guardianship and conservatorship law; probate administration; and trust law. She serves on the board of the Minnesota Association of Guardianship and Conservatorship, and as editor of the association’s quarterly journal. The journal has featured articles written by Marya that address the state’s guardianship act, trustee powers and attorneys’ ethical duties.Marya frequently writes and speaks on estate planning and probate matters. She is active in the Minnesota CLE: she serves on the planning committee for its Annual Probate and Trust Law Conference, contributed to its publication Minnesota Marital Deduction Deskbook, and served as course chair of a seminar centered on that publication. She has twice presented on marital deduction planning at the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Annual Probate and Trust Law Conferences, and for three consecutive years she has chaired the Hennepin County Bar Association’s seminars on probate and guardianship and conservatorship topics. In addition to authoring several articles related to guardianship and conservatorship, she has presented on fiduciary duties to other professionals.Marya is a member of the American, Minnesota, North Dakota and Hennepin County bar associations, and is a past chair of the latter organization’s Trust Law Section. She has been named to the Rising Stars list published annually in Minnesota Law & Politics.Before moving into private practice, Marya served as a judicial clerk for the Hon. Bruce D. Willis at the Minnesota Court of Appeals. |
