Mary Flora is an adolescent therapist for Phoenix Outdoor specializing in adolescent girls. Mary recently completed her Masters in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in California and has been serving as an intern at Inner Harbour, a Level 6 residential treatment center for adolescent girls. In 1999, Mary began teaching therapeutic horseback riding and in 2002 co-founded a therapeutic riding program just north of Atlanta, Georgia achieving North American Riding for the Handicapped Association program accreditation (NARHA). The program focused on individuals with physical and cognitive challenges and behavioral and emotional challenges. Mary served as an experiential workshop facilitator for Goal, Inc., addressing adolescent girl issues. In this capacity, she conducted workshops at the Atlanta Girls' School, Latin American Association and The Howard School. Before becoming a therapist, Mary's corporate career lasted 15 years in marketing and project management with time spent abroad in Chile, S.A. with the Peace Corps, and a contract assignment in Prague, Czech Republic. She served as a Program Manager for IBM in their education and training department and holds a Masters in Business Administration from Brenau University. Mary is a member of Delta Society, International Society of Anthrozoology, Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association, and NARHA as a Certified Advanced Instructor in Therapeutic Riding. |
