Mary Simmons was named Vice President, Rates and Regulations for Sierra Pacific Resources in May 2001. She previously held the position of Controller for Sierra Pacific Power. Since joining the company in 1985, she has held a variety of management positions, with responsibility for shareholder relations, corporate budgeting and various finance functions. In 1996, Simmons was named Director of Water Policy and Planning. Prior to joining Sierra Pacific, she was in public accounting for eight years with Kafoury, Armstrong & Co., Reno.
Education
Simmons earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the University of Nevada, Reno. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor.

Simmons is a member of the American Institute of CPAs; Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants; and the Institute of Internal Auditors; board member, secretary and Finance Committee chair for the Reno Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority; a member of the Chairman's Circle for the American Cancer Society; and a member of the Investment Committee for the Nevada Women's Fund.
