Mary Denise Kuprionis was named a vice president of the company in June 2001. She became director of legal affairs in 1999 and has been corporate secretary since 1987. She was elected an officer in 1987 making her the first woman to be elected an officer of the company.
She began her Scripps career in 1978 as secretary to the editor of The Kentucky Post. In 1980 she moved to the company’s corporate headquarters. She was promoted to executive assistant in 1985 and began managing executive compensation matters administrative functions and special projects. .

She currently serves on the board of trustees of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital where she is chair of the personnel and pension committee and serves on the executive governance and compensation committees.. Other activities include serving on the board of trustees of the National Speaking of Women’s Health Foundation and the College of Mount St. Joseph where she serves on the education and executive committees. She is a past board chair of the YWCA of Greater Cincinnati and of the Work Resource Center.
She is a member of the American Society of Corporate Secretaries and Governance Professionals; the American Corporate Counsel Association; and the American Ohio and Cincinnati bar associations. Kuprionis received a B.S. in management and organizational behavior from Northern Kentucky University (NKU) in 1985 and a J.D. from the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at NKU in 1994. She received NKU’s Outstanding Alumnus Award in 1998 was honored as a YWCA Career Woman of Achievement in 1999 and In 2007 the Cincinnati USA Chamber's WE Celebrate Business Awards honored Kuprionis as "Woman of the Year--Corporate. |
