Dr. Yu earned his S.B. in 1986 from MIT where he conducted undergraduate research with Prof. Satoru Masamune. He obtained his Ph.D. from Emory University with Prof. Lanny Liebeskind in 1991 and then conducted postdoctoral research with Prof. Curran from 1991-1994. Dr. Yu then joined the Synthetic Chemistry Dept. at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals, Upper Merion, PA rising to the assistant director level and becoming a member of that department's leadership team. His duties over an 8-year period included the design and implementation of new synthetic routes and processes to drug candidates, preclinical project management, and group leader responsibilities. Dr. Yu's scientific credentials include 13 publications and three US patents. |
