Marvin Waiand, Vice-President and Treasurer, is responsible for ensuring TransAlta has the financial capacity to meet its business objectives and that its financial exposures are effectively managed. Mr. Waiand leads the treasury, risk management and insurance teams for TransAlta.
Prior to this role, Mr. Waiand was Chief Financial Officer of TransAlta New Zealand.
Mr. Waiand joined TransAlta in 1986 as Controller and subsequently became Directors of Finance and Treasurer. Prior to joining TransAlta, Mr. Waiand worked for a major public accounting firm.
Mr. Waiand has a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Calgary. He has completed an array of leadership and development programs including the executive program at the University of Western Ontario.
Mr. Waiand is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta, the Financial Executives Institute and the Society of Canadian Treasurers. |
