Marty Seyer is senior vice president of the Commercial Business, Advanced Solutions and Cross Marketing organization for AMD. In this role, he is responsible for multiple functions including Commercial Strategy and Solutions, Performance Labs, Advanced Solutions, Strategic Technology Support, and a number of cross group functions.
Previously, Seyer was Senior Vice President, Commercial Segment, and was responsible for the global Commercial business across all of AMD. He managed commercial segment solutions, strategies, operations, technology planning, and marketing for all AMD server, desktop, mobile and embedded solutions for enterprises, medium and small businesses. He was also responsible for managing the P&L for the Commercial business, directing AMD’s ISV relationships, and driving global commercial business development and go-to-market activities.
Formerly, Seyer was corporate vice president of the Microprocessor Business Unit for AMD, responsible for AMD's CPU businesses, including marketing, strategy, business planning, product planning, and associated operations during which time period AMD Opteron, AMD Athlon 64, and AMD Semperon processors, as well as AMD Turion 64 mobile technology were brought to market.
Before joining AMD, Seyer was president and CEO of Penguin Computing, Inc., a leading vendor of AMD processor-based Linux servers. Prior to that, Seyer spent six years at NCR Corporation, a Fortune 500 provider of commercial computer systems for financial, retail and government markets, including large scale server systems, where he served as vice president and general manager of the greater than $1B Computer Division. Seyer is credited with the successful turnaround of NCR’s money losing computer business, generating its first profit in over a decade, involving PCs, PC servers, and high-end servers.
Prior to joining NCR, Seyer held senior product marketing positions with Dell Computer Corporation. At Dell, Seyer led Dell's entry into the server market with the launch of the PowerEdge brand of servers, driving Dell to 4% market share in less than 18 months. He also served in a variety of marketing, sales, technical, and management roles at Tandem Computer, Inc. and AT&T.
He is the author of seven books on topics including computers, operating systems, computer interfacing and networking, and holds patents in unattended synchronous communications and media mounting capabilities. A frequent speaker at industry events, Seyer was a Certified Teradata Engineer for data warehousing.
Seyer earned a bachelor's degree in administrative management and an associate's degree in computer science from Southeast Missouri State University. He has completed graduate level coursework in MIS and marketing at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School and Dartmouth College. |
