Martin Velasco is an entrepreneur with extensive experience in the electronic communications industry, combining the experience of large international companies with high-tech start-ups. In the last three years he also has developed significant activities in the medical and biotech areas.
In the special report The Stars of Europe of the Business Week European Edition of June 12, 2000, Martin Velasco was selected as one of the leaders at the forefront of change in Europe. He also was dubbed the leading Business Angel by the Wall Street Journal European edition of June 1999. In March 2004, Mr. Velasco was elected "Business Angel of the year 2004" by the ASBAN and Bilanz.
Martin Velasco serves on the board / advisory board of several high-tech start-ups including Speedlingua SA (www.speedlingua.com) in which is serves as Chairman and CEO - as well as venture and investment funds. He is also member of the Business Steering Committee of the Global Business Dialog for Electronic Commerce (www.gbde.org) and Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Positive Fund (www.positive-fund.com). The Positive Fund is a fund established to develop macro-credit banks in developing countries.
In addition to that, Martin Velasco is the Founder and Chairman of the charity Infantia Foundation (www.infantia.org). Founded in 1999 and based in Geneva (Switzerland), Infantia has the objective to help children in the developing world. |
