Mick McCue has over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications industry as an attorney and corporate executive. He joined SureWest as a special counsel to the company in 2001. He has since become an officer and taken on responsibilities for much of the company’s internal day-to-day and transactional legal work, working often with outside counsel.

McCue began his career at Centel Corporation in Chicago in 1978, helping to build its cable television and other competitive businesses, and quickly rising to run its Washington, D.C. office during the time of the AT&T breakup. He became the first vice president and general counsel of the United States Telephone Association (now US TELECOM) in 1986, just after the Bell Companies joined USTA. In 1993, McCue moved from USTA to Rochester Telephone (later Frontier Corporation) as its corporate vice president, strategic planning, assisting in its diversification and growth. He took on the general counsel role there a few years later. He elected to leave Frontier shortly after it was acquired in 1999, and then began to do legal and consulting work for a number of companies.

McCue has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in Ann Arbor, and an M.B.A. from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration of the University of Rochester.
