Martin R. (Marty) Ekrem is responsible for developing and managing an array of clinical, administrative, financial management, information technology, physician and ancillary service offerings on behalf of Via Christi Health System and its associated hospitals and ancillary services entities to hospitals and physicians throughout Kansas.
Marty brings to VCHS both acute care hospital and physician practice management executive experience. He has been an entrepreneur and has extensive experience consulting on physician partnerships, medical group operations enhancement and turnaround, business and strategic plan development, integrated delivery system development and restructure, revenue enhancement through the establishment of ancillary services, and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Via Christi Health System, he was the Founder and President of Harbor Health Management, Inc., of Brentwood, Tennessee, where he led a network of affiliates to provide operational, financial, information technology, organizational development, public relations and marketing support, and other resources for healthcare provider organizations.
Previous to starting Harbor Health Management, Marty was Senior Vice President of Pacific Physician Services, Inc., a publicly traded physician practice management company, and served as President and CEO of PPS East, a PPSI subsidiary.
Marty joined PPSI following a lengthy client relationship between PPSI and Ekrem Health Resources, Inc., a healthcare consulting firm founded by Ekrem in Southern California. He has held executive positions with hospitals in Denver and Los Angeles and with a 120- physician medical group with 10 sites. Through his consulting firms, he also provided interim CEO/Executive Director management for numerous medical groups. He has spoken and been published numerous times on practice management and governance of medical groups and integrated delivery systems.
