Appointed Group General Counsel in November 2000, Mark Verbiest oversees the provision of legal services to Telecom, and is responsible for risk management, compliance, government relations and media relations. He also has responsibility for the international and directories businesses and Telecom's investment in the Southern Cross Cable. He has extensive experience in securities law, corporate and commercial law, competition law and the trade practices area. Mark gained a law degree from Victoria University of Wellington before starting his legal career with Beyer Christie. In 1986 he became a partner in Brandon Brookfield. In 1990 Brandon Brookfield merged with Simpson Grierson and Mark worked with them, focusing on corporate advisory work, until he joined Telecom. His interests include golf, tennis, sailing and skiing. |
