Mark's most recent position prior to the creation of THINKFilm was as the Co-President of the US Theatrical Releasing division of Lions Gate Films, where he engineered the marketing and distribution of such successes as Gods and Monsters, Affliction, Shadow of the Vampire, The Red Violin and The Dinner Game and garnered 9 Academy Award nominations during his 3 years with the company. Mark's expertise and wealth of knowledge about film, filmmakers and talent have proved invaluable in solidifying talent and product relationships, as well as in providing valuable creative input into any projects being considered by the company.
Mark has an impressive resume of film industry credentials. Prior to Lions Gate, Mark served as Senior Vice President at Dennis Davidson Associates where he headed the company's domestic division. Before joining DDA in 1989, Mark spent nearly six years as Vice President of East Coast publicity at Columbia Pictures. From 1982-84, he was head of marketing at Triumph Films, Columbia's specialized film distribution division created in partnership with French company Gaumont. Mark began his career at United Artists, where he spent several years in international publicity. In his final months at Lions Gate, Mark executive produced Monster's Ball for the company, which saw Halle Berry win the Best Actress Oscar.
At THINKFilm, Mark has been instrumental in acquiring films from acclaimed filmmakers and studio-caliber talent, all of whom Mark easily sways to entrust him with their precious films and, to some extent, their careers. That the young company has already collaborated closely with directors and producers of the esteem of Gus Van Sant, Jodie Foster and Jonathan Demme is a tribute to Mark's marketing savvy and the respect he commands in the industry. |
