Bio: Fr. Mark O’Keefe, OSB, is the president-rector of Saint Meinrad School of Theology. Before assuming office in May 1996, he had served in seminary administration for several years. An educator and a moral theologian, he professed vows as a Benedictine monk in 1979, and began his studies for the priesthood at the Saint Meinrad School of Theology. He was ordained in 1983. Fr. Mark taught moral theology in the School of Theology and formerly held the posts of academic dean and associate academic dean. He also is a consultant on medical ethics. He is the author of a series of six books on the Catholic priesthood. They include Priestly Prayer: Reflections on Prayer in the Life of the Priest; Priestly Virtues: Reflections on the Moral Virtues in the Life of the Priest; The Ordination of a Priest: Reflections on the Priesthood in the Rite of Ordination: In Persona Christi: Reflections on Priestly Identity and Holiness. Other books include Becoming Good, Becoming Holy: On the Relationship of Christian Ethics and Spirituality and What Are They Saying About Social Sin? His articles have appeared in academic and popular journals, and he is a frequent speaker at gatherings of priests, seminarians and parish groups. |
