Mark Harman is senior vice president and commercial director of Crawford & Company's operations in Europe, Middle East & Africa.
Mark is a chartered accountant, who joined the international accounting firm Arthur Andersen after studying philosophy and economics at Oxford.
He progressed to senior positions within Arthur Andersen and was a partner from 1989 to 1997. During this time, Mark took on a number of special roles, including business development, management consulting and recruiting, as well as leading major assignments for private and public companies, including acquisitions, IPOs, and restructurings.
Mark's first contact with Crawford & Company was as part of the team that successfully bid for the worldwide audit of the group in 1994.
Mark joined Crawford in November 1997 as finance director of all non-U.S. operations. In this role, he played a major part in the change program to strengthen and improve the basic disciplines and profitability of the non- U.S. operations, implementing information systems and financial awareness at all levels. A small number of acquisitions were successfully completed during this time.
Also, Crawford won its first major outsourcing contract in Continental Europe in 1999, and Mark led the team responsible for contract negotiation and phased implementation.
Following the restructuring in June 1999, Mark was appointed regional managing director, Continental Europe, Middle East & Africa. During this time the region made significant strides in terms of profits and organic growth, as well as making some small acquisitions of strategic importance in countries such as Spain, Holland, and France.
In March 2007, Mark took on his current role of commercial director. This is a project based role which embraces key EMEA business projects including defined strategic opportunities in Continental Europe, Middle East & Africa. |
