In 2000 Mark Caron founded MobileSpring, a cross-carrier messaging service that proved pivotal in driving the growth of text messaging in the United States. In 2003 Mark led MobileSpring into a merger with Ztango, a leading provider of ring tone solutions to U.S. carriers. Under his leadership, MobileSpring/Ztango became profitable within six months. In October 2004, Ztango was acquired by WiderThan, a Korean-based global leader in wireless data services. Prior to MobileSpring/Ztango, Mark was co-founder and head of marketing and business development at Omnipoint Communications Services (OCS). OCS was one of the most successful wireless start-ups in the industry. The company had one million customers and a revenue run-rate of over $500 million before it was sold to VoiceStream/T-Mobile in 2000 for over $6 billion. Mr. Caron has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Computer Science and Economics from Dartmouth College. |
