Mark S. Melickian is counsel to the Corporate Restructuring Practice Group. He has represented debtors, secured lenders, creditors’ committees, trade creditors, indenture trustees, panel trustees, asset purchasers, insurance companies and other entities in reorganizations, workouts and liquidations and has advised corporations, financial institutions and shareholders on restructuring issues, bankruptcy implications and insolvency risks.
Mark's recent representations have focused on the interests of indenture trustees and lenders in bankruptcy cases such as Kmart Corporation, United Airlines, Northwest Airlines and Delta Air Lines. Other significant representations include the Chapter 11 plan administrator of candy manufacturer Favorite Brands International Holding Corporation in the liquidation of its bankruptcy estate and wind up of its corporate affairs, and the Creditors Committee and Liquidating Trustee in the bankruptcy and windup of Golden Bear Oil Specialties, Inc., a California-based specialty oil refinery and distributor.
Mark once testified before the ABA’s Task Force on Legal Advertising and received an award for outstanding journalism from the Society for Professional Journalists. He has authored articles or contributed seminar material on numerous aspects of bankruptcy law and has been a contributing editor to Ginsberg & Martin on Bankruptcy (Aspen, 4th edition) and Bankruptcy Law Update (Wiley, 2000 through 2002 editions).
Before entering private practice, he was a law clerk to the Honorable Robert D. Martin, Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court of the Western District of Wisconsin. |
