Mark Hoffman has over 30 years of experience as an operating manager in several companies and with professional service firms in accounting, financial consulting, planning, analysis and investment banking. He has worked in a number of industries performing a wide variety of tasks that cover multiple aspects of finance, acquisitions, corporate restructuring and liquidations.
He works with SFCo as a Principal Advisor in areas that include financial planning & analysis, strategy and strategic planning, distressed company restructurings & liquidations, acquisitions and integrations, project management, due diligence and taxation. His industry focus includes Internet-related companies, e-commerce, information technology, manufacturing, business services, real estate, insurance and food service. He has completed over $100 million in debt, private equity and strategic investments.
As a member of Abrams & Jossel, Inc., a workout and turnaround consulting firm, Mark served as Acting COO of a premium automotive tool manufacturer for Ford and GM involved in a wind down of operations and sale of assets. He served in a similar role during the bankruptcy and liquidation of a $55 million graphic design manufacturer.
He has extensive experience as an operating executive in development-stage companies in the e-commerce sector having served as COO/CFO of both a news industry portal company and an online yellow pages marketing company. Prior to this he served as CFO and Board Member of a Chicago based real estate industrial development and management company that became a publicly traded REIT.
He began his career as an Audit Senior and Senior Tax Consultant with Coopers & Lybrand where he worked in industries that included real estate development, insurance, and non-profit enterprises. Later he became the taxation manager of a large regional CPA firm in Colorado.
Mark has a B.S. in Accountancy from the University of Illinois and a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and has a Mediator Certificate in conflict resolution.
