Mark Gordon is Principal and Managing Director of Sonnenblick Goldman, LLC. Mark also serves as head of Sonnenblick Goldman’s International Lodging & Leisure Group, where his primary responsibilities include the procurement of capital through structured finance, sale and equity capitalizations for the firm’s lodging clients.

Gordon joined the firm in 1994 and has played an integral role in the development of what is now the preeminent Lodging and Leisure Group in the industry. Gordon completed more than $8 billion in hospitality transactions in his career, including many of the largest recent hotel deals in New York City. His recent accomplishments include the $440 million sale of the landmark Essex House in New York City. The hotel sale was completed in 2005 and was the largest single asset hotel sale in the country.

In addition, Gordon is active on a national basis, where his recent accomplishments include the $320 million acquisition financing of the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago. The transaction was completed in 2005 and was the largest hotel financing of the year in Chicago. Other key transactions include the sale of the Hilton San Diego; the acquisition capitalization of the Conrad Hotel in Chicago; the financing of the City Center Hotel in Washington, DC; the corporate recapitalization of Morgans Hotel Group; and the creation of an equity joint venture for the development of three resort properties at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

In August 2005, the editors of Real Estate Weekly’s 50th Anniversary Edition recognized Gordon as a rising star in commercial real estate. In 2002 and 2003, Mark was also recognized in Real Estate New York’s 40 Under 40 feature as one the top young stars of New York real. In addition, in October, 2002, the editors of Commercial Property News recognized Mark as one of its national Stars to Watch.

Gordon received a Masters of Science degree in Real Estate Finance from New York University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Economics from Ithaca College. He is a member of the New York Hospitality Council and the Urban Land Institute. Gordon has lectured at Universities and Conferences such as New York University’s Real Estate Institute, the Cornell University Conference on Hospitality Industry Strategy and ALIS Hotel Investment Conference.
