Mark J. Itri is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Orange County office. As a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department, Mark is the head of the Orange County office intellectual property practice. Mark also leads the Orange County office Patent and Trademark Procurement Group, the IP Transaction Group, and heads the West Coast IP Due Diligence Team.
Mark’s practice encompasses the preparation and prosecution of patent and trademark applications and he has considerable involvement in both patent and trademark litigation matters. Mark has extensive experience in client counseling, negotiating and drafting technology transfer agreements, joint development agreements and licenses for various high-tech clients. He also has significant experience in IP strategic planning, patent and trademark portfolio management, opinion work, as well as due diligence in connection with technology and trademark acquisitions.
Mark was named among the Daily Journal's 2008 Top 25 Portfolio Managers. He hosts and lectures frequently at the Firm’s Orange County IP Management Roundtable programs. Mark has also lectured for the California Bar Association, Intellectual Property Section.
Prior to practicing law, Mark gained practical engineering experience in the private aerospace industry in research and development of microprocessor designs and flight control systems. He now concentrates his IP practice on high technology relating to electronics and computer software arts, semiconductor, microprocessor design, the internet, image processing, pattern and speech recognition, server and network systems and mechanical devices and instruments.
Mark is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is a registered patent attorney admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
