Mark D. Sheridan is a partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group. His practice is split between government affairs and insurance coverage litigation.
Government Affairs. Mark advises clients on a variety of issues including the propriety of political contributions under New Jersey’s stringent pay-to-play laws and compliance with lobbying regulations. In addition, Mark regularly handles litigation on behalf of clients adverse to state entities.
Mark is currently the general counsel for the New Jersey Republican State Committee. In his role as General Counsel, he represents the Republican Party and Republican legislators in matters such as constitutional litigation and election law litigation. Mark was counsel for Senate Minority Leader Leonard Lance and Assembly Minority Leader Alex DeCroce in the landmark decision of Lance v. McGreevey 180 N.J. 591 (2004). In that case, he successfully argued before the State Supreme Court that then-Governor James McGreevey’s plan to balance the state budget through the issuance of tax revenue bonds was unconstitutional.
Mark’s work also involves representing candidates and political committees in connection with election related litigation, ranging from recounts to election contests, and regulatory counseling regarding compliance with New Jersey’s election laws.
Insurance. Mark represents insurers in connection with complex insurance coverage matters. In this capacity, he counsels clients on coverage determinations, policy drafting and litigation. The majority of his time is spent representing insurance carriers, in connection with insurance coverage litigation arising out of intellectual property disputes.
In General. Mark is admitted to New Jersey State Bar, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. |
