Ms. Stempler is the Chair of the Employment Counseling Practice Group, and also litigates major employment and other complex business cases. Ms. Stempler represents many of the Firm's major clients in everyday employment matters such as general counseling regarding hiring, retaining and firing employees; protecting intellectual property and other confidential information; and complying with the various federal statutes and regulations such as FMLA, ADA, ADEA, Title VII, COBRA, WARN, FLSA, PPA and USERRA, and the state counterparts.
Ms. Stempler litigates a wide variety of employment cases involving the enforcement of non-competition and non-solicitation agreements; the wrongful use of trade secrets and intellectual property; the defense of claims of discrimination based on race, age, sexual harassment and handicap; and the defense of claims of wrongful discharge.
Additionally, Ms. Stempler holds a degree from the Rhode Island School of Design, and is responsible for overseeing the design and branding efforts of Brown Rudnick.
Representative Matters
o Successful in winning an injunction against a former employee of a medical devise company that developed cardiac assist technologies from utilizing its trade secret and confidential business information for the benefit of a competitor.
o The successful representation of a mortgage lender defending against a potentially dispositive Motion for Summary Judgment where there was over $300,000,000 of exposure to the client regarding allegations of unfair and deceptive practices because of its points' charges and its advertising and sales techniques.
o Representation of a nationwide healthcare company and one of its employees in the successful defense of a lawsuit brought by a competitor alleging breach of a non-competition and non-disclosure agreement and wrongful interference with contractual relations.
