Marcia Benshoof joined Pinnacol Assurance in 1997, after 20 years of experience in the managed care marketplace. As chief business officer, Benshoof is responsible for all business operations and direct sales delivered through Pinnacol’s 13 multidisciplinary teams of claims representatives, nurses, underwriters, safety consultants, return-to-work specialists, and auditors who are configured around and dedicated to market segments. Each of these teams is arranged as a profit center and is headed by a business director. Benshoof also heads up Pinnacol in Action, Pinnacol’s corporate community volunteer program.
Prior to joining Pinnacol, Benshoof was vice president and director of national product development for CorVel Corporation, where she was responsible for all operations and sales management for a six-state region, as well as for national product development. During Benshoof’s tenure with CorVel, she was involved in the company’s IPO and successfully led a team involved in the acquisition of three of CorVel’s competitors. While at CorVel, she earned top regional and national performance and sales awards. She has also served on the faculty of the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center — School of Medicine from 1991-1992, where she developed a didactic and practical curriculum for business management within the Department of Family Medicine.
Benshoof holds a bachelor of science degree in clinical psychology and a bachelor of arts degree in rehabilitation counseling, both from the University of Northern Colorado. She is a Qualified Rehabilitation Counselor (QRC) and a Certified Case Manager (CSM). In addition, she serves on a number of boards and has spent 10 years on the Healthcare Executive Forum, a think tank and advisory group for the health care industry. Benshoof is also a member of Colorado’s Business Leaders in Managed Care.
Benshoof is a third generation Colorado native. She is married and is the mother of three college students. Her hobbies are hiking, running, biking, reading, and cooking. Don M. Collins, Chief Marketing Officer With more than 25 years of industry experience, Don Collins joined Pinnacol Assurance in January 2001. As chief marketing officer, Collins’ areas of responsibility include agent programs, communications and advertising, and product and market development. Prior to joining Pinnacol, Collins was president and CEO of Acordia of Colorado. Before that, he was executive vice president at Hamilton Dorsey Alston in Atlanta. His achievements include the creation of an exclusive insurance product for the motor sports industry; leading the due diligence and negotiation process of acquiring and merging five insurance agencies; and founding a captive insurance company in Bermuda for asbestos abatement contractors. Additionally, he co-founded Conseco Risk Management in Carmel, Ind., which was recognized as one of the nation’s fastest-growing and largest independent property and casualty insurance agencies. Collins serves as chairman of The Pinnacol Foundation’s board of directors. He has also served on numerous insurance advisory councils and was in the first class of agents to receive his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation. He has served as an officer and board member of several professional insurance organizations, as well as various charities and civic groups. Collins has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso with a double major in business and teaching. A resident of Denver, Collins has four children and enjoys outdoor activities including golf, snow skiing, and fly fishing. |
