Marc Birkner is Director of Business Development for Gemalto, formerly Gemplus, in charge of expanding Gemalto business fields and finding new opportunities in the financial services area. Mr. Birkner joined Gemplus in 1996 where he has served roles in Product and Program Management. In 2000 he joined the Product Marketing department and has been promoted Head of Product Marketing in 2002. Since 2005 he is in charge of Business Development in the financial services Business Unit. Mr. Birkner has been an active participant in GlobalPlatform for years whith a strong involvement in the different Business committees, Planning Unit and Marketing Center. This background has provided Mr. Birkner with a very broad experience on the different multi-application successes and implementation with smartcards. Prior to joining Gemplus Mr. Birkner worked as Project Manager for Thomson in Paris and for the French lottery La Française des Jeux. Marc Birkner holds an Engineering degree in Electronics, speaks German, French and English, lives near Marseille (France) with his wife and three children. |
