Marc Cremer Profile :
Engineering Analysis - Reaction Engineering International

Marc Cremer Biography :

Marc Cremer, Manager of Engineering Analysis has over ten years experience in combustion modeling. His expertise lies in the analysis of turbulent reacting flows using computational fluid dynamic modeling and in the development and use of improved chemistry models within CFD simulations. He has extensively used CFD to model utility and industrial boilers and furnaces including gas, oil, and coal fired systems. His recent focus has been on the evaluation and design of low NOx systems for boilers and furnaces including SNCR, RRI, low NOx burners, overfire air, gas reburning, and flue gas recirculation. Education Ph.D. Mechanical Engineering, 1995, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT. M.S. Mathematics, 1987, University of Utah, Salt Lake City, UT. B.S. Mathematics, 1985, Rocky Mountain College, Billings, MT. Experience Manager, Engineering Analysis, Reaction Engineering International, Salt Lake City, Utah (1998 - Present) Managing projects modeling industrial combustion applications including work for power generation and chemical process industries; responsible for project proposals, schedules and technical and fiscal progress. Senior Engineer, Reaction Engineering International, Salt Lake City, Utah (1995 - 1998) Performed research and analyses of turbulent reacting flow processes in cracking furnaces, process heaters, and utility boilers. Emphasis was computer simulation of combustion processes dealing with operational and design issues concerning emissions control, process characterization, and impacts on product uniformity. Areas of research included development and implementation of models to represent turbulent mixing and finite-rate chemistry in large scale combustion systems. Research Fellow, University of Utah, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Salt Lake City, UT (1991-1995) Conducted research in the CFD Laboratory of the Advanced Combustion Engineering Research Center at the University of Utah. Ph.D. thesis involved modeling turbulent mixing processes in several configurations to investigate effects of the turbulence length scale distribution and differential molecular diffusivities on scalar mixing. Developed model to incorporate unsteadiness in the simulation of hydrogen/air combustion to study the effects of mixing strategies on NOx formation. Taught laboratory courses and graded weekly homework for undergraduate courses. Engineer, Hercules Aerospace Corporation, Salt Lake City, UT (1988-1991) Directed technical projects dealing with characterization of propellant and case bonds in solid rocket motors. Developed state of the art case bond liners as part of the NASA Solid Propulsion Integrity Program (SPIP). Performed propellant aging studies for the NAVY A-3R and C-4 programs. Formally presented project results to internal and external customers. Teaching Fellow, University of Utah, Department of Mathematics, Salt Lake City, UT (1985-1988) Taught undergraduate courses in algebra, trigonometry, calculus, ordinary and partial differential equations. Solely responsible for lecturing, testing, and grading. Professional Associations and Awards University of Utah Graduate Research Fellowship, 1995 Teaching Assistant of the Year (U of U Mechanical Engineering, 1993 ACERC Graduate Research Fellowship, 1991 Special Masters Teaching Fellowship, 1986 - 87 Valedictorian - Rocky Mountain College, 1985 (Dean's Cup) Summa Cum Laude, 1985 Valedictorian - Sacred Heart High School, 1981
