Dr. Malcolm A. LeCompte - Executive Vice President, CTO, and Founder

Dr. LeCompte is responsible for the overall technical leadership and scientific vision of the company.

Professional Experience

Founder and Director Dr. Malcolm LeCompte has 25 years experience leading research and development in electro optical and remote sensing technologies. He founded AstroVision to create the first commercial geostationary earth monitoring system, and demonstrated the utility of such a system through an innovative synthetic product development program to create high fidelity market demonstrations of the AstroVision remote sensing system. He serves as EVP & CTO, AstroVision International, Inc., and is directly involved in all technical research, data generation, requirements and needs statements as well as the generation of all proposed technical implementations.

Prior to founding AstroVision, Dr. LeCompte was with Aerodyne Research, Inc., where he was a Senior Systems Scientist. In that capacity, he developed, marketed, managed, and provided technical leadership for programs in the Advanced Systems Group on aircraft electro optical detection systems. During that time, he also developed technical capabilities for vehicle and background radiation signatures, including passive target detection and identification technology and target radiation signature phenomenology.

As a Commander in the Naval Reserve, he served for many years in different capacities at the Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island. His contributions included Lead War Games Designer, Analyst, Umpire, and Controller. Earlier, as an active duty officer, he was a Flight Officer and weapon system operator and navigator. As a pilot and Tactical Navigator, he accumulated 2,000 hours of flight time on missions such as anti submarine warfare, electronic countermeasures, and attack type aircraft with extensive experience in aircraft carrier flight operations.

Earlier Dr. LeCompte was a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at the Harvard College Observatory. Other academic achievements include a Ph.D. in Atmospherics, Planetary and Astrophysical Sciences from the University of Colorado, a MS in Astrophysics, also from the University of Colorado and a BS in Physics, Cum Laude, from the University of Wyoming. Earlier he received a BS in Aeronautics & Astronautics from New York University. He is a member of Phi Beta Phi Scholastic Honor Society, the American Geophysical Union, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and the U.S. Naval Institute. Dr. LeCompte has published extensively in scientific and technical journals.
