Mala Ahuja Harker
Mala Ahuja Harker focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation and arbitration, securities litigation, and white-collar criminal defense. Her recent matters include representation of a major financial institution in a three-week FINRA arbitration arising from the hiring of institutional sales representatives from a competitor; a hedge fund in an arbitration against a former portfolio manager; a leading private equity firm in an investigation of its compliance practices; an officer of an international media corporation in connection with an investigation conducted by a special committee of the company's board of directors and related shareholder litigation involving claims of securities fraud; former directors of a quasi-governmental authority in connection with claims related to the collapse of Enron; a general partner and partnership in connection with claims for breach of fiduciary duty and fraud; and defendants involved in a variety of securities litigations.
Ms. Harker graduated with honors in 1996 from Washington University. She received her law degree in 1999 from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she was a finalist and winner of the best brief in the Edwin R. Keedy Cup Moot Court Competition. She previously practiced at Swidler Berlin Shereff Friedman in Washington, D.C. and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. Ms. Harker is also admitted in Virginia. She is a member of the South Asian Bar Association of New York and an associate board member of the Urban Justice Center.
