Makarand joined GemStone in 2005, to drive GemStone's technology leadership and deliver world-class products and the highest quality of customer satisfaction. Makarand is a veteran engineering leader with technical depth and great experience in team management, product management and distributed software development. Most recently, Makarand was the Vice President of Engineering at Apptran Software Inc, a company focused on delivering software economics and flexibility of open systems, while maintaining the functionality of existing installations. Before Apptran, Makarand was the Vice President of Engineering at @TheMoment Inc., which developed a high-performance dynamic trading platform. Makarand was responsible for the technology strategy, and intellectual property creation for the company. He also managed their engineering and client service organizations as well as client deployments.Makarand is based in the Silicon Valley, California and holds a M.S in Computer Science and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University and B.Tech from IIT Bombay. |
