Born on 12/25/1942 he majored in Mechanical and Electric Engineering from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais UFMG in 1965 and attended several courses among which Electrical Systems Studies at UFMG in 1966 Business Policy (Arthur D Little/INDI) in 1974 Marketing Strategy at Fundação João Pinheiro in 1977 Information Systems for IBM Executives in 1982 and Advanced Development Program for Executives - Programa de Desenvolvimento Avançado para Executivos from Fundação Dom Cabral/INSEAD in 2000. He held the positions of engineer and officer at Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais CEMIG from 1966 to 1975 was the Chairman of Instituto de Desenvolvimento Industrial de Minas Gerais INDI from 1975 to 1979 Chairman and Member of the Advisory Council of Banco de Desenvolvimento de Minas Gerais BDMG from 1979 to 1983 CFO and Investor Relations Officer of CEMIG from 1983 to 1987 Control Director of SIDERBRÁS Siderurgia Brasileira S/A from 1987 to 1989 CFO and Investor Relations Officer and Member of the Board of Directors of Centrais Elétricas Brasileiras S/A - ELETROBRÁS from 1989 to 1990 Development Director of Mendes Junior Participações S/A from 1990 to 1993 and Managing Director of Energia & Finanças Consultoria Ltda from 1994 to 1995. He was the Chairman of Acesita S/A from 2002 to 2005 CFO and Investor Relations Director from 1996 to 2002 as well as Development Director from 1995 to 1996.
