Dávila joined R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. (Puerto Rico) in 1985 as assistant marketing manager for the Winston brand and was promoted to marketing manager for Winston in 1987. Dávila was promoted to marketing director for the Hong Kong and Macau region for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco International (RJRTI) in 1988. He was named marketing director for RJRTI’s South Korean subsidiary in 1990, and in 1992 was promoted to general manager. In 1994, Dávila became general manager of RJRTI’s subsidiary in Hungary. He was promoted to vice president and general manager for the Canary Islands in 1996, and the following year was named vice president of sales and marketing for RJRTI’s Iberia region that included Spain, Portugal and the Canary Islands.
When RJRTI was sold to Japan Tobacco International (JTI) in 1999, Dávila remained in this position, working for JTI through 2000. He returned to R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. (Puerto Rico) in 2001 as vice president of sales and marketing. In July 2002, Dávila moved to Winston-Salem as vice president market and sales development international.
Following the merger with B&W in 2004, Davila became vice president export markets for GPI, responsible for: U.S. duty free, overseas military, Pacific Territories, contract manufacturing, component sales and international development. In November 2005, he assumed the additional accountability of the European joint venture with Gallaher RGI. Dávila assumed his current position in January 2006.
A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dávila earned a bachelor’s degree from DePauw University in Indiana. He currently serves on the board of directors of R.J. Reynolds-Gallaher International Sarl.
