Luciano Respini is Corporate Vice President of Dow, with responsibility for Geography. He is President of Dow Europe, chairs the Global Geographic Council (with oversight for Greater China, the Indian Sub-Continent and the regions of Asia, Eastern Europe and MEAF), and leads Marketing and Sales. He is a member of the Company’s Office of the Chief Executive.
Respini joined the financial department of Dow Italy in 1965 and remained on home soil until 1970, when he moved to Thailand to lead Dow’s financial activities in that country. After accepting similar financial leadership roles in France and then in Yugoslavia, Respini joined the Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions team at Dow’s head office in Midland, USA, working there for two years before returning to Europe in 1987 as the area’s financial VP, based in Horgen, Switzerland. Four years later he was appointed European VP of Dow’s Performance Products division and subsequently added the company’s European Chemicals business to his portfolio of responsibilities.
In 1995 Respini moved to Brazil to take over as President of Dow’s Latin American region, a role he held for three years before returning to Switzerland in 1998 as President of Dow Europe. Respini retains that position today, combining it with the additional responsibilities arising from his appointment as Chairman of Dow’s Geographic Council in 2000 and Corporate Vice President of Marketing and Sales in 2002. He added corporate responsibility for Human Resources and Public Affairs from October 2004 October 2005.
Born in Milan, Italy, Respini holds a doctor's degree in Economics from the Università Cattolica of Milan. His mother tongue is Italian, and he is fluent in English, French and Portuguese. He is married with three children, resides in Midland, Michigan, and will relocate to Switzerland. |
