Louis Hernandez Jr. is the chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Open Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ: OPEN) a leading provider of enterprise-wide enabling technologies for financial institutions. Open Solutions is a rapidly growing publicly-traded company headquartered in Glastonbury Connecticut with a global client base of more than 4 800 clients more than 1 600 employees and revenues in 2006 expected to be approximately $380 million. Open Solutions has been named one of the 25 Fastest-Growing Technology Companies of 2006 by Forbes Magazine. It has been named to the Connecticut Technology Council’s Fast 50; the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500; and American Banker and Financial Insights’ FinTech 100. These organizations recognize leading companies in the technology sector for outstanding sales growth.
Mr. Hernandez joined Open Solutions from a $300 million publicly-traded enterprise software company where he served as executive vice president and helped lead them from start-up to dramatic growth. In addition Mr. Hernandez has held senior positions at several high technology companies and began his career at Price Waterhouse LLP.
Mr. Hernandez is a recognized technology executive having been appointed by the Governor of Connecticut to be vice chair of the Governor’s Council on Economic Competitiveness and Technology as a representative of business with expertise in information technology. Mr. Hernandez also chairs the Technology Transfer Advisory board set up by Governor’s Council to develop strategies for technology transfer and commercialization in the state. Mr. Hernandez is also the past chairman of the Connecticut Technology Council and the former vice chair of the Commission for Educational Technology where he recently completed a three-year appointment issued by the Governor. He also serves on the board of directors at Mobius Management Systems Inc. a publicly traded company that provides comprehensive software solutions.
Mr. Hernandez is also active in several community issues including a member of the board of trustees of the Connecticut Center for Science & Exploration a statewide cultural entertainment and educational institution; a board member of the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center an organization dedicated to improving the physical and emotional health of children; and a corporator of the Eastern Connecticut Health Network Inc. (ECHN) a not-for-profit hospital and health system network.
Mr. Hernandez was awarded the Hartford Business Journal Business Person of the Year in 2005 and has been named one of the Hartford Business Journal's top executives under 40 and was an Ernst & Young New England Entrepreneur of the Year finalist. He was also one of the financial service industry’s five most innovative leaders in 2005 according to Bank Technology News a national financial services publication.
Mr. Hernandez has had several articles published by leading journals and speaks regularly on the topics of technology economics strategic planning and globalization.
