Louis S. Massimo is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Arch Chemicals Inc. (NYSE: ARJ) a global specialty chemicals company concentrated in biocides with $1.3 billion in annual sales. In this role Mr. Massimo oversees Arch’s corporate finance information technology strategic planning and development investor relations and corporate communications departments. Mr. Massimo has worldwide responsibility for Arch’s Water Products business. In addition he managed the Company’s Hydrazine Sulfuric Acid and Hickson & Welch businesses until the latter two were divested during the summer of 2003. Most recently Mr. Massimo was instrumental in the sale of the microelectronics business to Fuji Film.
As a member of the Company’s senior leadership team he played a key role in Arch’s acquisitions of Avecia’s Biocides business Hickson International’s businesses and Brooks Industries’ personal care intermediates business all of which have helped significantly increase sales and profitability in Arch’s Treatment Products segment.
Prior to joining Arch Chemicals Mr. Massimo served as Vice President and Controller of Olin Corporation. He was extensively involved in several major strategic changes at the Company including the 1996 spin-off of its ordnance and aerospace divisions as Primex Technologies Inc. the divestiture of its toluene diisocyanate (TDI) business in late 1996 and the spin-off of Olin’s specialty chemical operations as Arch Chemicals in early 1999.
Mr. Massimo joined Olin in November 1994 as Director Corporate Accounting after 15 years of senior-level financial experience primarily as an audit manager for KPMG Peat Marwick.
A 1979 graduate of Pace University with a BBA in accounting Mr. Massimo also completed Duke University’s Advanced management Program in 2000. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants the New York and Connecticut Societies of Certified Public Accountants and the Financial Executives Institute CT / Westchester Chapter. He is also a member of The Conference Board’s Council of CFO’s and the Board of Directors of the Business Council of Fairfield County.
