Lorie Beers joined KPMG Corporate Finance in 2007 serving as a Managing Director for the Special Situations Advisory Group. With nearly 19 years of experience in the insolvency and restructuring arena, including a wide range of industry sectors that includes apparel, building materials, business services, consumer products, financial services, food and beverage, gaming, general manufacturing, heavy industry, real estate, retail, restaurants, specialty chemical, and technology, Lorie is responsible for providing, on a national basis, out-of-court and in-court M&A, corporate finance, and restructuring advisory services to underperforming companies, debtors, creditors, creditors' committees, equity holders, and other constituents.
Prior to joining KPMG Corporate Finance, Lorie was the Director of Business Development of Gordian Group LLC where she was responsible for the firm's client acquisition, marketing activities, and relationship management. Prior to joining Gordian, Lorie held positions as the Chief Operating Officer of STC Associates, an integrated marketing firm in New York City, and as the Partner in the bankruptcy and insolvency practice at Kasowitz, Benson, Torres and Friedman LLP.
Lorie developed the Complex Financial Restructuring Program (formerly the Investment Banking Program) for the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) resulting in the receipt of the prestigious 2007 ABI Annual Achievement Award. Lorie has also spoken on panels for the ABI and the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) and currently serves as a 2007-2008 Member of Audit Committee of the Turnaround Management Association.
In conjunction with her role as counsel representing various debtors and creditors in bankruptcy, Lorie has authored and been quoted in various national and regional publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, Bloomberg, Corporate Finance Week, The American Lawyer, and Turnarounds and Workouts.
Lorie holds a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Economics from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Turnaround Management Association. |
