Lorenzo Tallarigo, M.D., became president, international operations for Lilly in January 2004. He also is a member of the company's operations committee and senior management council. Previously, he had been president, intercontinental operations since 1999.
Born in Italy, Tallarigo received a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Pisa (Italy) in 1976 and then served a residency in internal medicine at the University of Pisa. In 1981, he was a research fellow there at the Clinical and Diabetic Center.
Tallarigo joined the Lilly affiliate in Florence, Italy, in 1985 as a medical monitor and was named clinical research manager the following year. He became director of the area in 1988 and medical director for Italy in 1990.
In 1991, Tallarigo came to company headquarters in Indianapolis as director of pharmaceutical product management. In 1993, he returned to Italy as pharmaceutical marketing director and the next year became general manager for Italy and regional business unit leader, bone products. In 1996, Tallarigo was named president and general manager of the Lilly affiliate in France, as well as served as the Central Nervous System business-unit leader for Europe.
Tallarigo is a member of the board of trustees for the University of Indianapolis and is a member of the international committee of the Indiana University Foundation. He also is a member of the Politique International. |
