Lisa E. Stone is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm's Los Angeles office. Lisa is a member of the Trial Department, where she focuses her practice on commercial litigation, intellectual property law and entertainment litigation.
Lisa has experience litigating a wide range of intellectual property cases. She has successfully defended a record label against claims of trademark and trade name infringement. Lisa also has enjoined a record label from selling records that infringed the copyrights, trademarks and trade dress of a motion picture studio. In addition, she has represented a motion picture studio in a copyright infringement lawsuit arising from the sale of a digital video recorder that allows users to automatically skip commercials and to send digital copies of recorded television programs over the Internet to other owners of the device. Lisa also has defended several studios and writers in copyright infringement and "idea submission" cases.
Lisa has additional experience defending against claims for fraud, state securities law violations, breach of fiduciary duty and unfair competition. In the managed health care area, she has represented hospitals in actions to recover charges for hospital services from health care service plans. Lisa also has prosecuted and defended breach of contract claims on behalf of clients in a wide variety of industries, including engineering, manufacturing and entertainment industry companies.
Lisa is admitted to practice in the State of California.
