Burns was appointed Company Secretary and Chief Financial Officer in August 2004. He is a Qualified Chartered accountant and brings with him, 15 years of commercial experience, and an excellent depth of understanding of the value drivers, business processes and funding mechanics of the biotechnology and financial industries. Furthermore he possesses a demonstrated expertise in Australian and US GAAP accounting procedures. Most Recently, Burns spent 5 years as CFO and Company Secretary for ASX listed biotechnology company BresaGen Limited. In his role at BresaGen, Burns gained solid corporate finance experience. Preceding that role was his position as the New Zealand General Manager for the information solutions company, Equifax. Prior to that he held senior financial positions with the company in both Australia and the United Kingdom. He has been involved in strategic initiatives that include product licensing, US ADR listing, US mergers and acquisitions and complex contract negotiations both within Australia and internationally. Burns holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy from the University of South Australia and is a member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants. |
