Linda Hudson Biography :

Linda Hudson is president of BAE Systems Land & Armaments Operating Group. Land and Armaments, with headquarters at Arlington, Virginia, is a global leader in the design, development and production of combat vehicles, artillery systems, naval guns and missile launchers with nearly 11,000 employees at 13 primary locations in the U.S. and locations in the UK, Sweden and South Africa. The group is a leader in the design, development and production of combat vehicles, artillery, naval guns, missile launchers and precision munitions. It stands at the forefront of research, development and design technologies for a wide variety of technological solutions for survivability, lethality and mobility.

The L&A group was formed in June 2005. Prior to joining BAE Systems Hudson served as president, General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products in Charlotte, N.C. Hudson concurrently served as an officer of General Dynamics since May 1999.

Prior to her current assignment, Ms. Hudson was Vice President, Business Development at General Dynamics corporate headquarters in Falls Church, Virginia. Assuming this position in August 1997, Ms. Hudson was responsible for developing and implementing new business growth strategies across the corporation.

Ms. Hudson served as President, General Dynamics Ordnance Systems, from April 1992 through July 1997. As the chief operating officer of this wholly owned subsidiary, Ms. Hudson managed a broad range of products and operated a government owned manufacturing facility. While in this position, corporate ownership of the subsidiary transferred from Martin Marietta to Lockheed Martin and was then acquired by General Dynamics in 1996.

In November 1985, Ms. Hudson joined Martin Marietta in Orlando, Florida. She held a variety of positions there including Director, Air Defense Production Operations and Program Director, Electro Optical Systems before being appointed to head the Ordnance Corporation in 1992.

At Ford Aerospace and Communications Corporation in Newport Beach, California, Ms. Hudson started as a Reliability Engineer in 1976. She became the division’s Quality Assurance Manager in 1979 and assumed the position of Program Manager, Air Defense Systems in 1984.

Ms. Hudson began her career in 1972 at the Harris Corporation in Melbourne, Florida as a Research and Development Engineer, specializing in satellite and communication systems. She progressed to a Senior Engineering position in 1974 in Reliability Design Analysis and Component Failure Analysis.

A graduate of the University of Florida, Ms. Hudson received her bachelor’s degree, with honors, in Systems Engineering. She remains active in the alumni and athletic associations of the University and has served on an advisory board for the College of Engineering. Selected by the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), Ms. Hudson served as a member of the Industrial Committee for Ammunition Producers and she has been retained by the U.S. Government as an expert on industrial base issues and defense reutilization. NDIA recognized Ms. Hudson with their prestigious Firepower Award for her contributions to the defense of our country. Recently, she became the first woman to receive the National Infantry Association’s Military Order of St. Maurice in recognition of outstanding support of the U.S. Army Infantry.

Ms. Hudson has been active in the communities where she has lived. She currently serves on the boards of the Charlotte Chamber, the United Way of Central Carolinas, the North Carolina Conference for Women, Queens University of Charlotte McColl Graduate School of Business, and Norwich University of Northfield, Vt.
