Linda P. Torres received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Douglass College in 1968, her M.Ed. from the University of Puerto Rico in 1971, and her Juris Doctorate, with honors, from Rutgers University in 1980. She was admitted to the bar of the State of New Jersey and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey in 1980, and to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 1996. Ms. Torres serves as Legal Advisor and member of the Board of Directors to the International Boxing Federation/United States Boxing Association. She is a member of the New Jersey State and American Bar Associations; the Essex County Bar Association and its Litigation and Labor and Employment Law Sections; and the Association of the Federal Bar of the State of New Jersey. Ms. Torres served as Chair of the Supreme Court of New Jersey Ethics Committee for District VA and on the Essex County Bar Association Pro Bono Task Force. She presently serves on the Board of the Volunteer Lawyers for Justice, as a member of the Juvenile Conference Committee, and as a Trustee of Legal Services Foundation of Essex County. She also serves on the Executive Board of the Rutgers University School of Law - Newark Alumnae Association and is President Elect for the year 2004-2005. In 2001, she was honored by the YWCA of Essex & West Hudson as a Woman of Influence representing the field of law. Ms. Torres is fluent in Spanish. |
