Linda C. Greer, RN feels privileged to have been elected as a Trustee on the Board of Directors for Palomar Pomerado Health. With this new opportunity, she hopes to be able to demonstrate her dedication to patient care.
Mrs. Greer's interest in the medical field developed very early. At 16 years old, she became a volunteer candy striper. She then worked many years in a nursing home, helping with private duty nursing for the elderly before becoming a nurse aide at the Fallbrook Hospital. It was at this time that Mrs. Greer decided to make nursing her career, and began working for vascular surgeons in their Fallbrook office.
Mrs. Greer was accepted to Palomar College Nursing School despite the wishes of the Nursing Instructor who advised that she not be allowed to enroll. Dean Brown - the person in charge at the time - felt differently, and gave Mrs. Greer a chance. His intuition was correct. She excelled at the program and her name repeatedly appeared on the Dean's list for academic excellence. Upon graduating in 1979, Mrs. Greer went directly to work at the Palomar Hospital Intensive Care Unit, where she was actively involved in efforts to improve patient care and safety - a passion of hers to this day.
With her nursing license still active, Mrs. Greer has continued her education with general courses as well as advanced classes in medical and health care areas. She is currently employed as the Registered Nurse and Office Administrator of Greer-Savin, M.D.s, Inc., a general and vascular surgeon's office in Escondido.
"It is the dawn of a new era in medicine and nursing, with increasing efforts and challenges to provide necessary and safe care to our patients," says Mrs. Greer. "I am concerned for the welfare of all patients - regardless of their economic or personal status - and I am proud that I can be a part of the solution to health care needs at Palomar Pomerado Health. I feel I have come full circle in my life with the election to the PPH Board of Directors. This new position will afford me the opportunity to help meet the current medical needs of the public, and guide the direction of our future health care. I am pleased to work with my fellow directors, along with hospital administration and staff, to provide quality health care to every patient."
Mrs. Greer and her husband Dr. Edward Greer were married in 1973. They have nine children and four grandchildren. |
