BACKGROUND: Leyza F. Blanco has devoted her practice to a wide range of litigation and insolvency matters, including out-of-court workouts, debt restructuring and representation of creditors, trustees and debtors in bankruptcy and general commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts. She has also been involved in bankruptcy appeals at the district court and circuit court of appeals levels. Her practice in the area of restructuring and creditors' rights is currently focused on complex business bankruptcy matters in which she represents various parties including institutional lenders, in all aspects of bankruptcy and workouts. Leyza is the Co-Chair of the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation's Florida Network. She is the Immediate Past-President of the Bankruptcy Bar of the Southern District of Florida. Leyza was also named as a Top "Up and Comer" by Florida Trend's Florida Legal Elite in 2007 and South Florida Legal Guide in 2005, 2006 and 2007. In addition, she has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Nova Southeastern University Law School. Currently, she is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Miami School of Law, where she teaches a course in bankruptcy law.
