Leonor M. Aguilar-Guerrero is a Special Counsel in the Real Estate and Commercial Financing Practice Group.
Practice and Experience
Ms. Aguilar-Guerrero has experience in banking, commercial financing transactions, real estate, urban and economic planning, federal financing, promotion and financial packaging of investment proposals.
Education
She received her Juris Doctor from the Central American Catholic University at Managua, Nicaragua and her M.B.A. from I.E.S.A., Caracas, Venezuela. She has a postgraduate degree in tributary law from the Center of Tributary Law (C.I.E.T.), Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Admissions
Ms. Aguilar-Guerrero is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Memberships
She is a member of the Puerto Rico Bar Association, where she has served in several commissions and has served in the correction panel of Puerto Rico's Supreme Court Board of Bar Examiners. She is also a member of the Puerto Rico Association of Notaries.
Ms. Aguilar-Guerrero is also a member Puerto Rico Society of Planners. For her role in the planning and implementation of economic development and housing improvement programs, through public/private financing, the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Agency honored her with the National Recognition Award for Public-Private Partnership.
Representative Cases
Ms. Aguilar-Guerrero has been actively involved in various loan transactions representing banks and other financial institutions, particularly real estate financing and has experience with other commercial asset-backed financing. Furthermore, she has been involved in various real estate transactions and negotiation of commercial leases, besides structuring and negotiating purchases and sales of real property. She actively participated in the development of Hyatt's Hacienda del Mar Vacation Club Regime, the first timeshare project protected by the Registry of Property following the provisions of the Mortgage and Property Registry and the Puerto Rico Timeshare and Vacation Club Acts. Ms. Aguilar's major clients have been Gillette de Puerto Rico, Inc; Gillette Management, Inc.; Shell de Puerto Rico, Inc; John Hancock Realty Management, Inc.; John Hancock Life Insurance Company; Bayer Puerto Rico, Inc.; Cerromar Development Partners, L.P.
