Lee Barnes is the Northrop Grumman Orlando area Corporate Lead Executive, coordinating and maintaining liaison between elements of the Corporation and local DoD commands. Northrop Grumman has 4 offices located across the greater Orlando area, with over 1000 local employees. Our Orlando-based customers include the Army’s Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation; the Navy’s NAVAIR Training Systems Command; the Marine Corps’ Program Manager, Training Systems; and the Air Force’s Agency for Modeling and Simulation.
Lee joined Mystech Associates, in Jan 1997, when he retired from the Army. Subsequently, Mystech Associates was acquired by Sterling Software, and in 2001, Northrop Grumman acquired the Federal Systems Group of Sterling Software.
Colonel Barnes final posting was with the Army Forces Command (FORSCOM), where he had staff responsibility for the Army’s transition efforts under Force XXI, as well as staff responsibility for FORSCOM participation in the Army’s Operational Test and Evaluation program. Previous senior Army positions included the G3 (Plans, Training, and Operations Staff Officer) for a Mechanized Infantry Division; Director of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security for an Army Installation; Tank Battalion Commander; Commander of the Opposing Forces Regiment at the National Training Center; and Senior Brigade Combat Trainer and Observer/Controller at the National Training Center.
Lee has served as a Program Manager, Business Area Manager, Site Manager and Army National Account Manager. He currently serves as the Senior Manager of Business Development for the Orlando-based Northrop Grumman IT sector as well as the Corporate Lead Executive.
Lee graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, in 1972, and was commissioned into the US Army as an Armor Lieutenant. Subsequent military schooling included the Infantry Officer Advanced Course, the Army Command and General Staff College, and the Air Force Air War College. He received his Master of Military Arts and Sciences as an additional degree, while attending the Command and General Staff College. He has attended several Executive Level Business Training Courses as a Northrop Grumman employee.
