As Vice-President, Leah Bergman is responsible for ensuring the highest technical quality of Orielle's research and development efforts. Dr. Bergman brings to Orielle extensive expertise in semiconductor physics, applied mathematics, and the programming of numerical methods. In addition to serving as Orielle's Vice-President, Dr. Bergman is an Associate Professor of Physics at the University of Idaho. Prior to founding Orielle and joining the University of Idaho faculty, Dr. Bergman was a National Research Council Fellow and Visiting Professor at North Carolina State University in experimental physics, and before that was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Physics at NC State University. As an NRC Fellow with the Army Research Office Dr. Bergman investigated the optical properties of group III-Nitrides semiconductors and superlattices, and as a postdoctoral researcher and graduate student she investigated the optical characteristics of wide-bandgap semiconductors using photoluminescence and Raman spectroscopy. In addition she has also several years of commercial experience in applications programming. Dr. Bergman received the BA in Physics from the University of Massachusetts at Boston, the MS in Physics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the Ph.D. in Materials Science & Engineering from North Carolina State University. Dr. Bergman is the author of more than 50 book chapters and articles, and has served as both invited speaker and session chair at national physics and materials science conferences. Dr. Bergman is also the recipient of a prestigious NSF Career award. |
