Lawrence F. Cabaldon joined DHR International in 1995 and serves as Executive Vice President in the Irvine, California office and is a member of the firm’s Board Services Practice Group. Prior to joining DHR International, Mr. Cabaldon headed his own executive assessment, board consulting and executive recruiting firm serving clients such as Bank of America, Security Pacific Corporation, Wells Fargo and numerous firms in financial services. He has assessed over 500 executives and board members in banking, trust, real estate, insurance, software, credit card operations, auto finance, asset base lending, mortgage banking, leasing and other functional areas. He’s a board resource for the 280 bank member California Bankers Association. He has spoken to CEOs on How to Assess Yourself and to directors on How to Assess Fiduciary Performance, Board’s Role in Mergers & Acquisitions, Board Succession Planning: How to Create a High Performance Bank Governance Post Enron and Creating a Proud Legacy of Leadership and Value. He’s developed an array of board assessment and performance improvement techniques. His passions: recruiting high impact executives and helping boards improve performance, particularly in turnaround situations. Previously he was Director of Executive Search for Coopers & Lybrand recruiting for clients like ARCO, Union Oil, Getty Synthetic Fuels, Applause, Security Pacific, Paramount Studies and numerous other companies in health care, aerospace and consulting. Prior to that he was a Director of Human resources for a 400-employee one-bank holding company with seven non-bank subsidiaries. He started his career at Union Bank with a group of 50 management trainees, many of who moved to top management positions at Wells Fargo Bank as described in the book Good to Great. Mr. Cabaldon has served as charter president of Delta Upsilon’s chapter at Northridge where he also played varsity basketball. He was President of USC Commerce Associates, an 1800 member business alumni and support group for the University of Southern California School of Business. He was Chairman of Options for Youth, a non-profit organization that recovered over 3,000 high school dropouts from a burned out church in Hollywood. He’s a director of the Forum for Corporate Directors, the largest independent director’s group providing director forums, education and recognition. He established FCD’s Governance Committee, helped develop the new corporate membership and criteria for the highly successful Director of the Year Event, a sold out event that has honored over fifty high profile directors since 1995. He’s on the Dean's Advisory Board for Concordia University’s School of Business. Mr. Cabaldon received a BS degree from California State University Northridge. Larry and his wife Pat, an executive with Boeing, have three children: Christopher, Mayor of West Sacramento and CEO of Edvoice, Dylan, president of his MBA class at University of Hawaii and consultant in Southeast Asia, and Lauren, a freshmen at University California San Diego.
