Lauren D. Godfrey is an associate in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice Group. Lauren’s practice focuses primarily on the defense of pharmaceutical companies, products liability, mass tort, complex commercial, personal injury, and structured settlement cases. She also represents clients in family law proceedings in cases involving divorce, equitable distribution and custody issues. She donates her time to representing victims of domestic violence, and as a volunteer mediator in special civil proceedings.
In General. Lauren obtained her juris doctor from New York Law School in 2003, attending law school in the evening while working full-time in a New Jersey law firm as a civil litigation paralegal. She was an articles editor for the Journal of International and Comparative Law, and held various positions in the Law Student Division of the American Bar Association. Lauren served as chair of the Law Student Division during the 2002-2003 bar year.
Prior to attending law school, Lauren worked as a civil litigation paralegal for more than 10 years in various law firms in New Jersey and in Pennsylvania. She also taught social studies in several school districts in the Williamsport, Pennsylvania area. In addition to her J.D., she holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Drew University; and a master's degree in secondary education/social studies K-12 from the University of Scranton.
Affiliations. Lauren is admitted to the New Jersey and New York State bars; and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. She is an active member of the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association. She is currently a member of the Section’s Technology Committee, Professional Officers, Directors and Liability Committee, Animal Law Committee, and Task Force on Corporate Governance.
Publications. Lauren authored an article entitled E-Discovery: A Hands-On Approach which was published in the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section’s Summer 2006 issue of TortSource. She also wrote the monthly column Officially Speaking for the September, October and December 2002, and March, April and May 2003 issues of the Student Lawyer Magazine.
