Practice Emphasis Labor and Employment Law Professional Experience Laura J. Thalacker is a shareholder with Lionel Sawyer & Collins' Litigation Department, exclusively representing employers in the areas of labor and employment law. Ms. Thalacker represents employers in administrative proceedings and handles a variety of employment-related litigation matters in state and federal court, including the appellate level. She has appeared before federal and state agencies including the EEOC, the United States Department of Labor, the National Labor Relations Board, the Nevada Equal Rights Commission, the Nevada Labor Commission, and the Employment Security Division of the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. Ms. Thalacker has successfully defended employers in federal court litigation alleging discrimination and/or harassment based on race, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin and disability. She further has represented employers in cases alleging violations of the FMLA, the FLSA, and ERISA. In state court, Ms. Thalacker has achieved favorable outcomes in cases alleging wrongful termination, breach of contract, employment-related torts and violations of state employment statutes. In addition to her extensive litigation practice, Ms. Thalacker drafts employment contracts, handbooks and policies, as well as provides training and advice to employers on a wide range of day-to-day workplace issues. Ms. Thalacker periodically lectures on employment discrimination and other workplace issues for college and continuing education courses.
