Larry Pollock. Currently, Larry Pollock is Non-Executive Chairman of Borders Group, Inc., which operates Borders Books and Walden Books, and Managing Partner of Lucky Stars Partners LLC, an investment firm. He also serves on the Board of Directors of CardinalCommerce Corporation and is the Chairman of Bellefaire JCB, a non-profit children?s agency. Until recently, Larry Pollock was President and Chief Executive Officer and a Director of the Cole National Corporation, owner of Pearle Vision stores and Cole Vision optical stores and Things Remembered personalized gift stores. In October of 2004, the company was sold to Luxottica Group SpA. Cole National maintained 2,900 locations in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. Prior to joining Cole National Corporation, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of HomePlace Stores from 1997 to 1999, President and Chief Operating Officer of Zale Corporation from 1994 to 1996, and President and CEO of Karten's Jewelers from 1990 to 1994. He began his professional career in 1969 at J.B. Robinson Jewelers. His last position was President and CEO. From 1981 to the present, Mr. Pollock has been involved in buying, operating and selling broadcast properties. He has had ownership positions in seven radio stations during that time frame, including Cleveland radio stations: WDOK 102.1 FM, WWWE 1100 AM, WMJI 105.7 FM, WRMR 850 AM, and WBBG 1260 AM. Mr. Pollock holds trustee positions with the Musical Arts Association, which operates the Cleveland Orchestra, IdeaStream, which operates WVIZ / PBS and 90.3 WCPN, and the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio. Mr. Pollock received a BS in marketing / retailing from Ohio State University in 1969. He and his wife, Julia, and four children reside in Shaker Heights, Ohio. |
