With 15 years of materials science and analytical instrumentation experience, Dr. Kristin Lee-Bunker returned to RJLG as a Scientist III for the consulting department. She recently received a PhD in materials science and engineering from North Carolina State University in December 2004. Her PhD research involved the structural, compositional, electrical, and optical characterization of gallium nitride- and indium gallium nitride-based light emitting diodes. A variety of techniques were used to characterize the devices, including optical microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Field Emission SEM, and Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM). The research also involved the design, development and implementation of SEM-based and STEM-based Electron Beam Induced Current and Cathodoluminescence systems. While completing her PhD work, she also served as a teaching assistant and guest lecturer for a graduate level SEM lecture and lab course and a guest lecturer for an undergraduate level Electrical Properties of Materials and Devices course.
Dr. Bunker was previously employed at the California branch of RJLG, where she was involved in the sample preparation and analysis of SEM, Field Emission SEM, and Auger Electron Spectroscopy samples. Her projects included management of corporate SEM training and analysis of concrete, asbestos, pharmaceutical samples, stainless steel and semiconductor wafers. She was also responsible for analysis of gun shot residue samples, including all expert witness court appearances. Dr. Bunker is a member of Materials Research Society, Microbeam Analysis Society, Microscopy Society of America (MSA), Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society and Phi Beta Kappa Society. She has published in peer-reviewed literature. |
